Burj Khalifa At the Top: Level 124 vs Level 148 – Which One to Choose?
A visit to the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, is on almost every Dubai itinerary. The first question most travellers ask is simple: should I book At the Top (levels 124 and 125) or the premium At the Top SKY (level 148)? Both give you an unforgettable view of the city. This guide explains the difference so you can choose the right ticket for your trip.
At the Top: levels 124 and 125
This is the classic Burj Khalifa visit. After a short multimedia walk through the story of the tower, a high-speed elevator takes you up to the observation decks on levels 124 and 125. From there you can see Downtown Dubai, the Dubai Fountain, the coastline and, on a clear day, the desert on the horizon. It is the best choice if you want the full Burj Khalifa experience in a short visit and at a lower cost.
- Good for: first-time visitors, families and groups.
- Visit length: usually one to two hours, including the queue for the elevators.
- Expect: a busier deck, especially at sunset and on weekends.
At the Top SKY: level 148
At the Top SKY takes you even higher, to one of the highest observation decks in the world. The visit is quieter and more exclusive: SKY tickets normally include a guest lounge with light refreshments and an outdoor terrace on level 148, and then a stop at levels 125 and 124 on the way down. The exact inclusions are set by the operator and we confirm them with you before you pay.
- Good for: couples, special occasions and travellers who want fewer crowds.
- Visit length: about one to two hours.
- Expect: a calmer, more personal experience and the highest view in the city.
Level 124 vs level 148 at a glance
- View: both are spectacular; level 148 is higher, while levels 124 and 125 already show the whole city.
- Crowds: level 148 has far fewer visitors at the same time.
- Extras: SKY usually adds the lounge, refreshments and a host; At the Top is the standard visit.
- Price: At the Top is the more affordable ticket; SKY is the premium option. See the current price on each tour page.
Best time to visit
Sunset is the most popular time, because you see the city in daylight, at golden hour and lit up at night in one visit. It is also the busiest and most requested slot, so book early. Early morning usually has the clearest air and fewer people. In the summer months a hazy sky can reduce the view of the horizon, while the cooler months (about October to April) often bring clearer days.
Tips for your visit
- Arrive a little before your time slot: entry is at a fixed time.
- Bring your passport or ID; the operator may ask for it at the entrance.
- Visit the Dubai Fountain at Burj Lake after you come down: the shows run in the evening.
- Combine the tower with other Downtown sights on the same day to save travel time.
Which one should you choose?
If it is your first time in Dubai and you want to see the city from above, Burj Khalifa At the Top – Level 124 is the classic choice. If you are celebrating something special, prefer fewer crowds or simply want the highest view, book Burj Khalifa At the Top SKY – Level 148.
Make it a full day in Dubai
The Burj Khalifa fits perfectly into a city day. Add the Dubai Frame to see Old and New Dubai (read our Dubai Frame guide), the Museum of the Future, or our Standard Dubai Tour with the city’s top sights. For the evening, a desert safari is the classic adventure.
