Here is how to plan the day.
Getting from Dubai to Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi is a drive of a couple of hours from Dubai along the main highway, depending on where you start and on the traffic. The easiest way to do it in one day is a guided tour with transport, so you do not have to worry about driving, parking or timing. Leave in the morning and you will be back in Dubai in the evening.
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is the highlight of most visits to Abu Dhabi. Its white marble domes, courtyards with floral inlays, reflecting pools and huge chandeliers make it one of the most photographed buildings in the region. Visitors of all faiths are welcome outside prayer times.
- Dress code: loose clothing that covers arms and legs; women also cover their hair. If you are not sure your clothes are suitable, ask us before the tour.
- Behaviour: speak quietly, remove your shoes where indicated and follow the staff’s instructions.
- Photos: photography is allowed in most visitor areas; avoid photographing people at prayer.

Louvre Abu Dhabi
On Saadiyat Island, the Louvre Abu Dhabi tells the story of humanity through art and objects from many cultures and periods, displayed side by side. The building itself is a work of art: a vast dome lets light fall through it like rays through palm leaves, over white galleries and the sea. Plan a few hours to see the main galleries without rushing. It is an indoor visit, perfect for the hottest part of the day.
Yas Island and Ferrari World
If your group prefers adventure to museums, Yas Island is the place. Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is an indoor theme park dedicated to the famous Italian brand, with fast roller coasters, simulators and rides for younger children. A full visit takes most of the day, so many travellers choose it as a separate trip from the city tour. Some rides have height limits; the park sets the rules and we confirm them with you.
A simple one-day plan
- Morning: leave Dubai and visit the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.
- Midday: lunch in Abu Dhabi and a drive along the Corniche, the city’s seafront.
- Afternoon: the Louvre Abu Dhabi, or a stop at Yas Island.
- Evening: return to Dubai.
If you want to see everything calmly, split it into two days: the city tour with the mosque and the Louvre on one day, and Ferrari World on another.
Best time to go
The cooler months, from about October to April, are the most comfortable for walking around the mosque courtyards and the Corniche. In summer, plan the outdoor visits for the morning and keep the Louvre or the indoor theme park for the afternoon. Bring sunglasses, sunscreen and water, plus a light layer for the strong air conditioning indoors.
